The Planning & Air Quality Analysis Branch is responsible for regulatory
review, making revisions to state air regulations and is service oriented specializing
in technical, educational and graphical assistance for the Air Division.
Current projects involve facilitating the Department's responsibilities with
the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), revisions of state air regulations,
reducing diesel emissions, risk assessments, atmospheric dispersion modeling and
emission inventories. The Planning & Air Quality Analysis Branch also functions
as the launch pad for new air initiatives and projects. Due to this, we are a good
place to start when you need answers to air related questions.
2010 Emission Inventory
There have been some major changes in the Emission Inventory (EI) reporting requirements.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has divided the major sources into two
types, “Type A” and “Type B”. Type A facilities emit 2500 tons/year or more of SOx,
NOx, or CO plus those that emit 250 tons/year or more of VOCs, PM10, PM2.5 or NH3.
These facilities must file an EI every year. The remaining major sources, Type B
are required to file an EI every three years, starting with inventory year 2005.
Therefore, only Type A major sources will file an EI for 2010 in 2011. Those facilities
required to file an inventory this year will be provided with a compact disc (CD)
containing a form pre-populated with information from ADEQ’s data base. They will
be due on April 15, 2011 unless an extension is requested.
