Doug Melton

Commissioner Melton was appointed to the Commission in April of 2017 to represent District 3 and his term expires in 2025.

Commissioner Melton was reared on a farm in south-central Missouri but has spent most of his life living in west-central and northwest Arkansas. Commissioner Melton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Missouri State University, a Master of Science degree in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Geologist. He has spent most of his career in the oil and gas business but also has an extensive background in environmental engineering and geology as related to mineral extraction, water treatment and disposal, and forensic engineering. Commissioner Melton has served as a Justice of the Peace for Sebastian County as well as on the Sebastian County Board of Equalization. He is an avid hiker and climber and has summitted two of the World’s Seven Summits, 45 of the 50 State Highpoints as well as nearly 800 of the 1,978 named and ranked peaks, hills and mountains in Arkansas. In addition to hiking and climbing he is a kayaker, photographer and bicyclist.
