This page contains the information needed to obtain a mining permit from the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. The information is contained in sections that will guide you to the specific information you need based on what type of mining permit that you require.

We have provided all of the guidance materials and blank forms now used by the Surface Mining and Reclamation Division. These documents have been provided in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). The blank forms have been created so that you can actually type data onto the form and then print the completed form for submission. We have provided the law and applicable regulations for each of the three programs administered by the Surface Mining and Reclamation Division. These programs are:

• Quarry Operations

The Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission's Regulation No. 8, Administrative Procedures, also provides information you may need to clarify the application process.  Reviewing our handbook, Conservation Practices for the Reclamation of Surface Mines in Arkansas Handbook, provides information on practices that will help a mine operator to reduce non-point source pollution problems at the mine site.
