Program Title
Reduce Emissions from Diesels (Go RED!)
Program Description
Arkansas has received funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency made
possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and Governor Mike
Beebe to reduce emissions from diesel engines in the state. The Arkansas Department
of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is offering these funds as a competitive funding
assistance opportunity entitled “Reduce Emissions from Diesels (Go RED!).” Public
and private entities and non-profit organizations in Arkansas are eligible to receive
funding. The funding assistance will be awarded on a competitive basis, and projects
that are selected for awards must reduce diesel emissions in Arkansas. Diesel emissions
may be reduced by employing retrofit equipment, idle reduction technologies, engine
upgrades, engine replacement and equipment replacement. Any and all retrofit and
idling reduction equipment as well as engine upgrades that will be used under these
awards must be EPA or California Air Resources Board (CARB) verified. Projects must
be completed by August 31, 2010. Priority will be given to clean diesel projects
that maximize public health benefits; create or preserve jobs; are cost effective;
serve areas with the highest population densities or are in poor air quality areas;
maximize the useful life of certified engine configuration or verified technology;
conserve diesel fuel or encourage the use of ultra low sulfur diesel in non-road
diesel engines.
