| Is your company doing a great job protecting Arkansas’ environment? If so, you deserve to stand
out from the crowd. Stay ahead of the pack and be recognized for your facility’s excellent compliance record and
commitment to continuous environmental improvement. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) offers the
National Environmental Performance Track program to recognize and reward top environmental performers.
Benefits of participating include:
- Recognition. The Performance Track distinguishes your company as a great environmental steward and
community member. Participating companies can use the Performance Track logo in newsletters and other
materials to reflect the EPA’s endorsement of their environmental accomplishments. The EPA will feature
participating companies in the agency’s promotional materials for partnership programs.
- Incentives. The EPA provides a resource center to inform participants about performance areas in the
program and other innovative practices. The EPA is considering reducing its reporting and monitoring
requirements and streamlining administrative procedures for participants.
The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality can help your company get the recognition it deserves and be
a part of this program. Please contact us if you are interested in applying.
Qualifications
To qualify, a facility must have a strong record of compliance with state and federal regulations. The
facility also must have an Environmental Management System (EMS) in place. The EMS must commit the
company to:
- Maintain regulatory compliance
- Implement voluntary pollution prevention measures
- Systematically analyze environmental impacts and set goals for reducing them
- Focus on continuous improvements
- Share information about environmental performance with the community.
The EMS must contain measurable objectives and procedures, environmental training programs, an emergency
preparedness plan and other components.
Participating companies must demonstrate past achievement and future commitments in specific,
facility-selected environmental categories, including energy, water and materials use, air emissions, waste
generation, water discharges, accidental releases, preservation/restoration and/or product performance.
Participating facilities will prepare an annual report to the EPA and the public to articulate their continued
commitment to the Performance Track ideals.
