Public Outreach and Assistance Division

The Public Outreach and Assistance Division’s staff of 13 serves ADEQ’s regulatory divisions and citizens by managing public and news media relations, providing assistance to the Department and the Pollution Control and Ecology Commission in regulatory hearings and meetings, and providing information and direct environmental assistance to the public, including small businesses. The Division is divided into three work areas:Telephone

  • Public Outreach and Assistance assists citizens, businesses, government entities, students and teachers, and the news media to better understand the Department’s activities and ability to access resources. They inform citizens, through public notices and news releases and a variety of outreach activities, about opportunities to participate in ADEQ’s permitting and regulation-forming processes and how to take advantage of the ADEQ’s many programs to improve the Arkansas environment.

  • Business Assistance provides compliance assistance and environmental guidance to businesses subject to environmental regulation. The program also administers a small business assistance loan program and ADEQ’s Pollution Prevention (P2) Program. P2 coordinates and promotes activities for the State’s business and agriculture communities to develop voluntary measures to reduce or eliminate waste.

  • Public Information  maintains the Department’s environmental records, making them available to citizens, the Department and other environmental stakeholders. ADEQ has converted the majority of its files to electronic format. Staff keeps files and records on regulated facilities in Arkansas, including permitting and enforcement information, compliance, environmental reporting, and discharge or emissions monitoring. They help citizens access copies of laws and requirements and maneuver through the Department’s web site. Current environmental records are continually added to the electronic records management system.
