- Q. Who needs an Arkansas UST license?
- A. Any contracting company
or testing company which engages in the business of performing underground storage
tank work and any individual who will supervise a job site at all critical junctures
or who performs tightness testing on any UST system (Arkansas Pollution Control
and Ecology Commission
Regulation
12, Chapter 5, Sec. 4a&b and Chapter
6, Sec. 4a&b).
- Q. How do you apply for a UST Contractor or Company Tester License?
- A. File an application provided by the Department which includes securing
a Surety Bond in the amount of $25,000 and certifying that at least one managerial
representative is familiar with and understands the provisions of Arkansas Pollution
Control and Ecology Commission
Regulation 12 and must stipulate that on any and all jobs involving
UST work a licensed individual will exercise responsible supervisory control over
the work and will be physically present on site at all critical junctures and during

- Q. What is required for an Arkansas UST Individual License?
- A. An applicant must be at least eighteen years of age and file an application provided
by the Department. He/she must meet the experience requirements, pass the written
examination and certify that he/she is in good standing with all licensing authorities
by whom licensing is required and has not had a license or certificate suspended
or revoked (Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission
Regulation 12, (Chapter 5).
- Q. What is required for an Arkansas UST Individual Tester License?
- A. An applicant must be at least eighteen years of age and file an application provided
by the Department. He/she must meet the experience requirements of Chapter 6, pass
the written examination and certify that he/she is in good standing with all licensing
authorities by whom licensing is required and has not had a license or certificate
suspended or revoked. The applicant must provide the Department with certification
from the manufacturer of the test method to be used that the applicant has received
training , been examined, and satisfactorily shown proficiency in the use of the
chosen testing method. He/she must also provide the Department with certification
by the manufacturer of the testing method that it will meet the federal performance
standard as stated in 40 CFR 280.43(c) (Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology
Commission
Regulation 12 Chapter 6).

- Q. What if I have a UST license in another state?
- A. Arkansas does
not have reciprocity. Applicant may provide copies of any licenses he/she
currently holds but must pass the licensing exam which pertains to Arkansas and
federal laws and regulations. (Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission

- Q. When will the UST exam be given? Where?
- A. The exam is given
monthly at the Department of Environmental Quality located at 5301 Northshore Drive,
RST Conference Room, North Little Rock, Arkansas. The exam begins at 9:00 a.m.,
on the third (3rd) Thursday of each month. Click

- Q. What is needed to renew my license?
- A. Approximately 30 days prior
to the expiration date of the license, a renewal form will be sent to the licensee.
The information on the form should be verified and it should be returned with the
appropriate certificates of continuing education and/or re-certification of the
chosen testing method/s, and the appropriate renewal fees. Individuals must also
complete the job experience record sheet which is provided. It is the duty and responsibility
of the licensee to renew the license on a timely basis whether or not an application
form has been received from the Department. Licenses which are not renewed within
two months after the expiration date of the license will be considered lapsed and

- Q. When can I get my sixteen hours of Department-approved continuing education?
- A. Contact the Licensing Coordinator for a list of approved providers and
schedule of classes.
