The Enforcement Branch consists of thirteen (13) personnel, including
the eight (8) district inspectors and is the enforcement
arm of the Division. It is responsible for ensuring permitted facilities are
operating according to federal, state and specific requirements as identified in
their permit; as well as complaint investigations and illegal dumping enforcement
action.
To accomplish this task, the Enforcement Branch’s personnel conduct
periodic "no notice" inspections of permitted facilities. Inspections
are assigned a numerical value to determine percent compliance.
The Enforcement Branch’s personnel also investigate
citizens' complaints about illegal dumping
and attempt to identify those responsible for the illegal activities. After those
responsible are identified, the Branch strives to obtain voluntary compliance and
clean up, or may take civil or criminal enforcement action where necessary.
