ADEQ Accepting Go RED! Applications

NORTH LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is continuing to accept applications for grants from the 2016–2017 round of funding for the Go RED! (Reduce Emissions from Diesels) program. ADEQ currently has nine applications pending award distribution, estimated at $328,014 total, leaving approximately $276,304 to be awarded. ADEQ has established a rolling deadline for application submissions for the program. The final two deadlines for the 2016–2017 round of funding will be on March 31, 2017, and April 29, 2017, at 4:30 p.m., or until all funds are awarded.

The Go RED! program provides grants to eligible entities for replacement or retrofitting of diesel engines resulting in the reduction of engine emissions. Public and private entities and non-profit organizations in Arkansas are eligible to receive funding under the Go RED! program. Projects that are selected for awards must reduce diesel emissions by implementing measures such as exhaust controls, engine upgrades, idle reduction technologies, engine replacement, and vehicle/equipment replacement. In 2015–2016, ADEQ awarded $173,393 to five entities. The awardees were:

• Barton-Lexa School District, for the replacement of two school buses
• Bradley County, for the replacement of one dump truck
• Clinton School District, for the replacement of two school buses
• County Line School District, for the replacement of one school bus
• Danville School District, for the replacement of one school bus

Projects that receive Go RED! funding must be completed by August 31, 2017. Applications can be found on the ADEQ website at https://www.adeq.state.ar.us/air/planning/gored/.
