Meeting Scheduled to Discuss Union County Landfill

NORTH LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) will hold a public meeting on Monday, April 24, 2017, to discuss the Assessment of Corrective Measures (ACM) for remedying impacts to groundwater at the Union County Class 1 Landfill located in Union County. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Norphlet City Hall, 105 East Padgett Street, Norphlet, AR.

The meeting is being held to provide citizens the opportunity to informally discuss the ACM with staff members of ADEQ and Union County Landfill. Since the meeting is not a formal hearing, no prepared statements are necessary, and no formal comments are recorded during the process.

Based on the results of the ACM and public meeting discussions, the operator of the facility will select a remedy, which must meet the provisions established in Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission (APC&EC) Regulation No. 22.
