Sample the Season with ADEQ, AEEA, and The Root Cafe
NORTH LITTLE ROCK—As part of the Arkansas Environmental Education Association's (AEEA) "Dine and Discover Series," the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is hosting an educational walking tour of the wetlands surrounding Cook's Landing Park and a portion of ADEQ's grounds. Sample the Season with ADEQ will take place on Thursday, September 28, at 6:00 p.m. at ADEQ headquarters in North Little Rock.
Local teachers, community volunteers, and others interested in environmental education will learn about ADEQ's low-impact development landscaping methods that help conserve fresh water and reduce runoff water pollution from the building and parking lots. Attendees will also learn about ADEQ’s energy efficient features, such as the use of recycled materials for building construction and interior design, and the use of motion-sensing lighting in workspaces. Following the tour, guests will enjoy a locally-sourced and seasonally-fresh meal prepared by The Root Cafe and a presentation by ADEQ staff discussing environmental education as a means for inspiring and fueling locally significant projects.
ADEQ is committed to providing quality environmental education opportunities to Arkansans, and all proceeds of this event benefit AEEA's programming. The event includes a silent auction, sponsored by and benefiting AEEA. Tickets are $18.00 for members of the AEEA and $23.00 for non-members. Seating is limited to forty people. To register for the event, visit www.arkansasee.org/newsevents. Sign-in begins at 5:30 p.m. at ADEQ's headquarters, 5301 Northshore Dr., North Little Rock, AR, 72118. Educators in attendance are eligible for two hours of professional development.
