This grant is being used to provide labor to help in the white paper/newsprint programs at the public schools by supplying pick-ups once a week at the schools that are currently on line. This labor also sorts all the garbage out of the recyclable materials that are brought in from the trailers from each city that has a trailer and helps in cleaning around the baler when it is in use so that all materials are recovered and recycled. This program will continue and the funds from this program will help offset the expenses in a similar manner in the upcoming school year.
The recycling program at the Saline County Regional Solid Waste Management District's landfill is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days per week. The program accepts newsprint, white office paper, aluminum cans, steel cans, and white goods. |
