This grant was used to purchase promotional items, advertisements in local newspaper, radio spots on the local radio station during sports events and drive time, trailer location signage, convention registration and recycling coordinator salary.
Promotional items purchased with this grant are: red, white and blue recycle water bottles for Earth Day at Harmony Grove School, portfolios for teachers participating in the school programs, shirts, 2004 calendars and pencils.
Presentations were made at the 2002 Saline County Fair for five days from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. each day and manned the entire exhibit, 2002 Saline County Old Fashioned Day, 2003 Earth day at harmony Grove School, Collegeville Elementary in Bryant, girl scouts troop in Bryant.
This program is progressing very well and overall the organization of the recycling program is better this year than ever. Our materials are being accumulated and sold on a more regular basis and participation an dphone calls about the program have increased this year.
The recycling program at the Saline County Regional Solid Waste Managment District's landfill is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days per week. The program accepts newsprint, white office paper, aluminum cans, steel cans, and white goods. |
