Solid Waste Facility Operator
License Class Levels Definitions

Each license class offers three levels determined by training and experience.

Level A – Apprentice

  • Complete 20-hour course of approved training.
  • Pass exam.
  • Level A license is not renewable.

Level B – Journeyman

  • Hold a Level A license for one year.
  • Complete the 20-hour course of approved training.
  • Pass exam.
  • Complete one year of experience in solid waste management or operation.
  • Carry out the responsibilities of an operator.

Level C – Supervisory or Master

  • Hold a Level B license for one year.
  • Complete a 20-hour course of approved training.
  • Pass exam.
  • Complete two years of experience in solid waste management or operation.
  • Carry out the responsibilities of an operator.
