In pursuing its mission of controlling and abating pollution, the Department welcomes citizen
complaints about air or water pollution problems, illegal dumping, hazardous waste problems, asbestos,
lead-based paint and the like.
NOTE: In case of an acute emergency, such as an petroleum
product or hazardous waste spill, contact the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management at 800-322-4012.
This office is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to respond to these and other emergency conditions.
You may file your complaint online or via phone, fax or mail. You need only supply us
with enough information to identify and locate the problem you are reporting. We ask for as detailed a
description as possible of the problem and information about its location (address, driving directions, etc.) so
our inspector can locate it. We also ask for the county where the problem is since our inspectors'
territories are assigned by county, and information about who owns the property in question. The last two
items are not mandatory but do help expedite the investigation process.
You do not need to identify
yourself in any way nor do we make any effort to "trap" identifying
information about you. If you wish to remain anonymous, please do not
provide your name, address, phone number, or email address when you send
us your comments or complaints. Even if submitted anonymously, we
will still investigate your complaint as thoroughly as possible. If you
do provide contact information, please note that it along with your
questions, comments or complaints becomes a public record subject to
public disclosure under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act. (Please refer to our Privacy Policy)
Your complaint will be handled by the division most closely associated with the nature of the
problem. (Example: The Water Division handles complaints involving water pollution.) |
