Federal Environmental Laws and Regulations

The regulations adopted by the Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission are the basis for ADEQ's environmental permitting, monitoring and enforcement, public involvement activities and other services.

Most Arkansas regulations are based on national environmental laws (acts of Congress) and national environmental regulations found in the US Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). For simplicity, some Arkansas regulations adopt federal regulations by reference.

Major national environment laws and the Code of Federal Regulations are available via the US EPA website at: EPA Categorical (Effluent Guidelines) Website. The effluent guidelines promulgated by EPA, sorted alphabetically by industry category. The links below in the 'Industry Category' column provide an overview of the regulation and available EPA publications for the category. The links under '40 CFR' go directly to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
