Investigation Comment:
The wastewater treatment system/area originating from Highway 82 west of the facility and extending south to the permitted outfall was investigated for any potential unpermitted discharges from the treatment facility. At the time of the investigation vegetation was tall and dense and did not allow me to fully investigate the complainant's claim. However, two areas of Coffee Creek were reviewed, the first (GP05) was on the north side of the Crossett WWTP, and the second (GP06) was at a bridge near the southeast corner of the aeration basin. Visually, the creek conditions at locations GP05 and GP06 was not representative of that found at the outfall. Specifically, the water going through the outfall was darker than at the GP05 and GP06 locations and there was also more flow going through the outfall than was seen at GP05 and GP06 (Please see attached photos). Further evaluation of Coffee Creek and any unpermitted discharges from the permittee or other sources will need to be conducted at a further date. The investigation was conducted with Loretta Reiber (ADEQ), Jim Cutbirth (GP) and Danny Rice (GP). [Last modified by MCCONNELL, 5/9/2014 1:47:02 PM]
Description Comment:
Complainant stated facility has an unpermitted discharge of contact cooling water into Coffee Creek above the aeration basin. Complainant stated the discharge may be coming from the area near a cemetery.
