Public Information

DEQ encourages the public to attend public hearings, comment on proposed actions, report pollution, and request records as necessary.

DEQ posts a wealth of information and resources directly on this website. We have online searchable databases containing information on most Arkansas facilities holding environmental permits, as well as other topics. The Public Information staff is happy to assist you in obtaining materials not posted on the DEQ website.

General Records Review

Documents not available on the website can be reviewed by the public in the DEQ Records Management Section during regular business hours. In a few cases, new documents may be in active use within the agency and not yet available in electronic format. Schedule a visit to review environmental files; DEQ staff are available to assist with requests to view or copy such documents.

If you do not know exactly what documents you are looking for, a general records review of the department's files regarding the matter of concern is recommended. File review does not preclude an individual from subsequently filing a FOIA request.

Freedom of Information Request

One method of providing information to the public is through a Freedom of Information Act request. It is commonly called a FOIA. Because DEQ is a government agency, many files are subject to public review. Requests may be submitted by email, fax, or mail.

If you would like to file a FOIA, please contact:

Once you have filed a FOIA request, you will receive an initial response acknowledging that DEQ has received it. The Public Information staff will inform you whether DEQ possesses files pertaining to the request and how you may view or receive the information. If the requested files are large, you may be asked to visit our headquarters to view them and will be given information on how to schedule a time to do so.
