The Environmental Preservation and Technical Services Division of the Arkansas
Department of Environmental Quality is a multifaceted division. It provides
services to almost every division within the agency. Six sections make up
the division.
- The Air Chemistry Section monitors air quality
at several sites throughout the State and provides the data for the
Air Quality Index (AQI).
- The Environmental Multimedia Laboratory provides testing of water, soil,
sediment, fish, hazardous waste, and other media for the Department's use.
Much of the testing is done for the Ambient Water
Quality Monitoring Program. Data from that testing can be found on our
Surface Water Quality And Fish
Monitoring Data page.
- Information submitted to the Department by permittees in the self-monitoring
program or in compliance with our regulations is required to come from laboratories
that the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality has certified. The
Laboratory Certification program is based in the Environmental Preservation
and Technical Services Division. The Department
currently certifies nearly 100 laboratories. For more information
on the Laboratory Certification Program at ADEQ,
please visit the web page for this program.
- The development of methods for collecting, storing, and dispersing geospatial
data for the Department is the responsibility of the GIS Coordinator.

program at ADEQ.
- The Environmental Preservation Section oversees and maintains information
regarding the Department's environmental enhancement, preservation, and/or restoration
projects.
