Nutrient Trading Advisory Group to Meet

NORTH LITTLE ROCK—The state Nutrient Water Quality Trading Advisory Panel (NWQTAP) will meet at 1:30 p.m. October 23, 2017. The meeting will be held in the River Room of the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC) located at 101 East Capitol Avenue, Suite 350 in Little Rock.

The agenda includes a review of a proposed nutrient trading regulation—the Panel’s main legislative purpose. In addition, a period of time will be set aside for comments from the general public.

The nine-member panel was created by Act 335 of 2015. Nutrient trading involves allowing one wastewater discharger to meet its permit discharge limits by negotiating with another discharger to lower the nutrient level in its discharge.

The act provides that the NWQTAP may advise the Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission and the ANRC regarding development of nutrient water quality trading programs and regulations for such programs.
