Air Quality Awareness Week in Arkansas: May 1 – May 5
NORTH LITTLE ROCK – The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality’s (ADEQ) Office of Air Quality will spotlight topics of interest on ADEQ’s website and social media from May 1 through May 5, 2017, to commemorate national Air Quality Awareness Week. This year’s theme is “Be Air Aware.”
Associate Director Stuart Spencer stated:
“The current state of the air in Arkansas is excellent! Arkansas is one of only thirteen states meeting all major air quality standards. I’m excited to be able to highlight programs over the course of Air Quality Awareness Week that showcase our successes and the services we offer to the public.”
Each day of Air Quality Awareness Week a new topic will be revealed to raise public awareness of current air quality concerns and ongoing programs that aim to better inform and educate the citizens of Arkansas to air quality issues. Articles will be posted to ADEQ’s website and linked through social media outlets. Topics will include: Air Quality Trends in Arkansas; Arkansas’s Participation in the Ozone Advance Program; Particulate Matter and Ozone Forecasting for Arkansas; Energy and Air Quality; and the upcoming 2017 Fire Policy Forum, which will be hosted by ADEQ.
