Blanz Selected to Serve on Two EPA Boards

NORTH LITTLE ROCK—Dr. Bob Blanz, Chief Technical Officer of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), has been selected to serve on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Science Advisory Board (SAB) and Board of Scientific Counselors (BOSC).

The SAB is a chartered Federal Advisory Committee established to provide independent scientific and technical peer review, consultation, advice, and recommendations to the EPA Administrator for EPA’s actions and programs. Members of the SAB constitute distinguished bodies of non-EPA scientists, engineers, economists, and behavioral and social scientists who are nationally and internationally recognized experts in their respective fields.

The BOSC is another Federal Advisory Committee established in 1996. The BOSC provides advice, information, and recommendations for EPA’s Office of Research and Development program. Dr. Blanz will serve as Vice-Chair of the Sustainable Water Committee of the BOSC.

Dr. Blanz received his BA and MS in Zoology from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He continued his education by obtaining his PhD in Civil/Sanitary Engineering from Texas A&M University. Dr. Blanz is a licensed professional engineer and has been inducted into the Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering.

Dr. Blanz has more than forty years of governmental and private-sector experience in the implementation of environmental statutes and regulations. Dr. Blanz is a former Deputy Director and Interim Director of the Arkansas Department of Pollution Control and Ecology (now ADEQ).
