Deadline for Environmental Awards Approaching

NORTH LITTLE ROCK—The deadline to submit environmental award applications to Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is quickly approaching. ADEQ will accept applications through March 16, 2018, for the annual Arkansas Environmental Stewardship (ENVY) Award and the Arkansas Environmental Technology (TECHe) Award.

This year will mark the 14th anniversary for the ENVY Award and the 3rd anniversary for the TECHe Award.

Examples of environmentally related activities or projects that are eligible for the awards include:

• Environmental management efforts using advances in technology or a new use of technology
• Efforts by state or local government employees or agencies to improve their own operations or benefit their stakeholders
• Programs and special projects that promote effective environmental education and outreach
• Activities that have had a positive effect on the quality of the environment in Arkansas
• Watershed improvements, mine reclamations, wetlands construction, brownfields projects, and industrial site redevelopment and reuse
• Projects or programs that minimize the environmental impact through efforts such as recycling or reuse programs, pollution prevention, energy conservation, or waste minimization

Application forms and more information on the awards criteria are available at www.adeq.state.ar.us/poa/enterprise-services/awards/. Applications are due March 16, 2018, and must be submitted by email to envyaward@adeq.state.ar.us or techeaward@adeq.state.ar.us.

ADEQ employees and their immediate family will not be considered.
